Ventura, CA (June 8, 2024) – Police in Ventura were dispatched to the scene of a fatal crash on June 8. The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on the 101 Freeway near Emma Wood State Beach.
According to a report from the area, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling the wrong way on the 101 Freeway when it collided head-on with a Nissan Versa traveling in the opposite direction near Seaward Avenue. Both vehicles suffered heavy property damage as a result of the collision. Two people inside the Nissan lost their lives as a result of the crash. The driver of the Jetta was arrested at the scene upon suspicion of driving under the influence and was charged with two counts of vehicular manslaughter. There is no word on whether any other injuries were reported due to the collision. Police have not identified anyone involved. An investigation remains ongoing.
