Los Angeles, CA – Injury Multi-Vehicle Crash on Vineland Ave

Los Angeles, CA (August 25, 2024) – Early on Sunday, August 25, a serious traffic collision involving multiple vehicles occurred on Vineland Avenue, leading to significant lane closures. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a dark-colored sedan crashing into the center divide, subsequently blocking the middle lanes.

LAPD and emergency responders were quickly on the scene, with the incident escalating as more vehicles became involved. According to initial reports, between three and four vehicles were affected by the collision, which led to the deployment of multiple tow trucks to manage the situation. The severity of the accident prompted a hard closure of all lanes on Vineland Avenue, just south of the intersection with the 101 Freeway.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) were notified and arrived on site to assist with clearing the wreckage and managing traffic diversions. At one point, the situation required a SigAlert, indicating an unknown lane closure duration, which was later extended due to the complexity of the cleanup operation. Those needing medical attention were transported to area hospitals.

In the aftermath, authorities confirmed that one of the vehicles was split in half as a result of the crash, highlighting the severity of the incident. The LA Coroner was also called to the scene, indicating that fatalities may have occurred, though further details are still pending. Caltrans worked diligently to clear the roadway, with all lanes reopening shortly after 10:30 a.m., nearly six hours after the initial collision.

We hope all the injured victims make a rapid recovery.
