Oxnard, CA (March 25, 2025) – An injury train crash occurred on Tuesday night, March 25, in Oxnard, when a Metrolink train collided with a tractor-trailer, resulting in one person being transported to the hospital. Authorities responded to the crash at approximately 7:15 p.m. at the intersection of Fifth Street and Rice Avenue.
According to Battalion Chief John Cecena of the Oxnard Fire Department, emergency crews assessed three individuals at the scene: the truck driver and two bystanders. One bystander sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The truck driver and the second bystander declined further medical attention.
The Metrolink train, which departed Los Angeles’ Union Station at 5:30 p.m., was en route to Oxnard when the collision occurred. The impact halted train service between Camarillo and Oxnard. Law enforcement officials managed traffic disruptions in the area, temporarily closing Fifth St between Rose Ave and Del Norte Blvd, as well as parts of Rice Ave between Eastman Ave and E Wooley Rd.
Cmdr. Kevin Baysinger of the Oxnard Police Department stated that officers were actively investigating the incident to determine the cause of the collision.
