Pomona, CA – Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on SR 60 at Reservoir St

Pomona, CA (March 24, 2025) – A fatal wrong-way crash occurred on Saturday night, March 22, claiming the lives of two women and leaving a one-year-old child hospitalized. The collision happened just after 11:00 p.m. on the westbound lanes of SR-60 near Reservoir St, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Authorities report that 24-year-old Pomona resident Rick Rodriguez was driving a 2013 Honda Accord eastbound in the westbound lanes when he collided head-on with a 2018 Honda Civic. The impact caused Rodriguez’s vehicle to spin out of control, striking a third car.

Emergency responders, including CHP officers, paramedics, and firefighters, arrived at the scene to render aid and manage the situation. The driver of the Civic, a 29-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 39-year-old woman from Huntington Park, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A one-year-old child traveling in the Civic sustained major injuries and was transported by ambulance to Children’s Hospital of Orange County. His condition remains unknown.  The driver of the third vehicle, identified as 47-year-old Veronica Segura from Commerce, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, Rodriguez was released to the hospital for medical treatment. The crash led to a SigAlert, which remained in place until approximately 4:00 a.m. as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the deceased victims of this heartbreaking tragedy.
