Pedestrian Accidents in Los Angeles
Pedestrian fatalities remain a serious issue throughout Los Angeles and the state of California. With its dense population and high traffic volume, L.A. is among the most dangerous cities for those walking near busy roads. Freeways, in particular, are especially hazardous because vehicles travel at high speeds and drivers do not expect to encounter pedestrians.
In recent years, California has seen a troubling rise in pedestrian deaths. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, thousands of pedestrians are injured or killed each year across the state. These accidents often occur late at night or early in the morning, when visibility is low and there are fewer witnesses around. Sadly, this was the case in the recent tragedy on the Marina Freeway.
Pedestrian crashes can result from distracted driving, speeding, impairment, or failure to yield. Even a moment of inattention behind the wheel can end a life. When someone is killed while walking, their families are often left facing not just grief but unexpected expenses such as funeral costs, loss of income, and more.
In these cases, a wrongful death claim may be an option. While no amount of money can bring back a loved one, legal action can help families recover financial losses and hold negligent drivers accountable. A personal injury attorney can guide families through the legal process, investigate the crash, and advocate for fair compensation. They can also help uncover evidence that may not be obvious at first, such as surveillance footage or toxicology reports.
When victims are killed in pedestrian accidents, families should not have to deal with everything alone. An attorney from Saleh Law Group can step in to manage the legal side of things so that the family can focus on healing.
