Compensation Available After a Fatal Car Crash in Encino, CA
If you lost a loved one in a car crash in Encino, certain types of compensation may be available to help you recover damages. These may include funeral and burial costs, medical bills incurred before death, and lost income the deceased would have provided. Loss of consortium is also recognized in California wrongful death claims.
Funeral and burial expenses are often the first costs families face after a fatal accident. You can seek reimbursement for funeral home services, casket costs, burial arrangements, and cremation fees. These expenses can add up quickly and form an important part of a claim.
Lost wages and future income reflect the financial support the person would have provided. You can pursue compensation for income that would have been earned over time. This includes wages, salary, bonuses, and other employment benefits they would have provided to the family.
Medical bills incurred before death are also recoverable in a wrongful death case. If your loved one received emergency care, hospital treatment, or ambulance services after the crash, those costs can be included. You should gather all medical records and billing statements related to their final treatment.
Loss of consortium claims address the emotional and relational losses suffered by close family members. A spouse can seek compensation for the loss of companionship, care, and support. Children may also seek damages for the loss of parental guidance and affection.
Insurance challenges often arise after a fatal multi-vehicle crash like this one. Multiple insurance policies may apply, including the at-fault driver’s policy and your own underinsured motorist coverage. Insurance companies may try to reduce what they pay after a chain reaction crash.
A car accident lawyer can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and guide you through the claims process. An attorney can identify which drivers may bear responsibility. Legal guidance can help clarify what evidence you need to build a strong claim.
