St James Parish, LA (March 13, 2025) – A deadly crash occurred in St. James Parish on Wednesday evening, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured. The incident, reported by the Louisiana State Police, took place around 8:00 p.m. when a 2019 Jeep Wrangler, driven by 37-year-old Demaricus Kensie of Donaldsonville, veered off the road and overturned on LA 70.
According to Louisiana State Police, Kensie was traveling east when his vehicle exited the roadway, flipping over. Kensie was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger was also in the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Emergency medical teams quickly responded, transporting the injured individual to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The St. James Parish Fire Department assisted at the scene, where they worked to extricate the victims from the wreckage. Louisiana State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, and a standard toxicology sample has been taken from the driver for further analysis.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Demaricus Kensie during this difficult time.
