Anaheim, CA (December 10, 2025) – Eight teenagers from the Anaheim High School track and field team were hurt on Wednesday, December 10, after a driver jumped a curb and struck them. The crash happened around 3 p.m. near the corner of Harbor Boulevard and North Street, according to Anaheim Police.
Officers said a red Toyota Corolla was heading south on Harbor Boulevard when it drove onto the sidewalk. The teens were waiting at the corner for the crosswalk signal when the car hit them. Police said the group was standing together and following traffic rules when the crash happened.
All eight teens were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries that ranged from moderate to serious. Authorities said they are all expected to survive. The group’s coach was several steps behind them and witnessed the crash. Officers arrested the 27-year-old driver on suspicion of DUI. The driver was also taken to a hospital, but officials did not release an update on their condition.
School district officials confirmed that seven Anaheim High School students were involved and are receiving medical care. Firefighters treated several teens at the scene, and at least five were carried to ambulances on stretchers. Police are still working to learn what caused the driver to lose control.
We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to those injured in this incident.
Pedestrian Accidents in Anaheim
Pedestrian crashes remain a serious concern across Anaheim and the wider Southern California region. Busy roads and heavy foot traffic can increase the risk of collisions, especially near schools and commercial areas. Accidents like the one involving the Anaheim High School track
Many pedestrian accidents occur because of speeding, distracted driving, or impaired driving. These behaviors reduce reaction time and make it harder for drivers to respond to changing road conditions. When a driver is impaired, their ability to stay in their lane or follow traffic signals is often affected. Even at lower speeds, a vehicle striking someone on foot can cause broken bones, head trauma, or internal injuries. Victims may face long periods of recovery and emotional stress after such an event.
Anaheim continues to work toward improving pedestrian safety, yet crashes still happen on busy streets like Harbor Blvd. The aftermath often brings medical bills, missed work, and concerns about long-term health. Injured pedestrians may seek compensation for these losses, but the process can be confusing. A personal injury lawyer can help victims understand their rights and deal with insurance companies. Legal guidance can also support families as they navigate medical care and financial concerns after a serious crash.
Drivers who choose to operate a vehicle while impaired can be held responsible for the harm they cause. When a pedestrian is hit, attorneys can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and work to show how negligence led to the injuries. This may include reviewing police reports, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing medical records. Successful claims may recover compensation for medical treatment, pain and suffering, and other damages related to the accident.
