Newport Beach, CA (May 21, 2026) – A six-vehicle crash resulted in the death of a man and left another driver injured at San Miguel Drive and MacArthur in Newport Beach. The fatal accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, May 19. Newport Beach Police arrived at the scene around 4 p.m. to find multiple vehicles with heavy damage.
A westbound Toyota Corolla struck several cars stopped at a red light and pushed an Audi Q5 into the intersection, where it then hit a Nissan that was turning eastbound. The man who lost his life was found in the Corolla, which sustained significant damage. He was treated at the scene before being taken to a hospital, where he later died.
A second driver who reported pain was also transported to a hospital. The rest of the motorists were evaluated and released at the scene. The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
