2 Seriously Hurt in Hit-and-Run During Street Takeover in North Hills, CA

North Hills, CA (July 27, 2026) – Two people were seriously hurt on Sunday evening, July 26, after a car struck them during a street takeover in the North Hills neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley.

The driver of a black sedan fled after striking the pair, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. One person suffered a severe injury and was knocked unconscious, while the other sustained a badly broken leg. Both were hospitalized following the crash.

No other details about those involved have been released. The investigation into the hit-and-run remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with both of them as they begin what’s likely to be a difficult recovery.

What Happens When a Hit-and-Run Driver Isn’t Found in North Hills, CA?

When a hit-and-run driver disappears from the scene, injured victims tend to find themselves relying on their own insurance rather than the at-fault driver’s, since there’s no one yet identified to hold financially responsible.

This is where uninsured motorist coverage becomes critical under California law, since it’s designed specifically for situations where the at-fault driver can’t be identified or doesn’t carry insurance. California requires insurers to offer this coverage, though drivers can decline it in writing, which means not everyone injured in a hit-and-run has access to the same financial protection.

Beyond the insurance question, street takeovers usually involve additional parties who may share liability, including organizers who promote the event or property owners who allow it to happen on their premises. A personal injury lawyer can help identify every potential source of compensation in a case like this, from uninsured motorist claims to possible claims against event organizers, while also working with law enforcement to track down the driver if new evidence surfaces.
