San Diego, CA – 1 Injured in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15 Near Rte 163

San Diego, CA (June 29, 2025) – One person was hospitalized after a fiery crash involving multiple vehicles on Saturday, June 28.

The collision happened around 9:45 p.m. on Interstate 15 south, just north of Route 163. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), at least four vehicles were involved in the crash.

Authorities reported that a vehicle traveling with its hazard lights on was moving at about 50 mph when another vehicle rear-ended it. The force of the impact pushed one of the vehicles into a highway divider wall, where it caught fire.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. At least one person was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The condition of the injured victim has not been made public.

Caltrans closed all lanes of I-15 south following the crash. Some lanes began reopening around 11:15 p.m., and all lanes were later cleared. The events leading up to the crash are still under investigation. Officials have not confirmed whether drugs, alcohol, or speed played a role.

We hope for a full and fast recovery for the person injured in this accident.

Multi-Vehicle Crashes in San Diego

San Diego’s highways are often busy, especially on weekends and evenings. With so many drivers on the road, multi-vehicle crashes can happen in an instant. These accidents are especially dangerous because they involve multiple impacts, increasing the chances of serious injuries.

A crash involving several vehicles often leads to confusion about who is at fault. In the case of Saturday’s fiery collision on I-15, officials are still working to piece together the sequence of events. One car traveling slowly with its hazard lights on may have contributed to the crash, but other factors like visibility, road conditions, or distracted driving could have also played a role.

Multi-car pileups can result in serious injuries, such as broken bones, head trauma, or burns, especially if a vehicle catches fire. Victims might face long hospital stays, surgeries, or rehabilitation. In addition to physical pain, there’s often financial stress from medical bills and lost income.

A car accident lawyer can help victims of multi-vehicle accidents understand their rights and seek compensation. An attorney can review police reports, speak with witnesses, and work with experts to recreate the crash scene. They can also help clients deal with insurance companies, who sometimes try to shift blame or minimize payouts when multiple drivers are involved.

If you were hurt in a crash like the one on I-15, you may be entitled to damages for medical costs, pain and suffering, and lost wages. Legal guidance can help ensure the responsible parties are held accountable.
