Long Bch, CA – Fatal Motorcycle Crash at Downey Ave & S St

Long Beach, CA (July 5, 2025) – A man lost his life and a woman was seriously hurt in a motorcycle crash on Thursday night, July 3, in Long Beach.

According to Long Beach Police, the collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Downey Ave and South St. Investigators said a motorcycle was heading west on South St when it struck a Toyota 4Runner that was turning left onto Downey Ave.

The crash threw both the male driver and his female passenger from the bike. Officers found the man in the southbound lanes of Downey Ave. The woman was found nearby on a sidewalk.

The rider, identified as 20-year-old Jonathon Porras of Long Beach, died at the scene. Authorities pronounced him dead shortly after arrival. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her current condition remains unknown. The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and spoke with investigators. Officials have not said whether any charges are expected.
