Huntington Beach, CA (April 17, 2026) – A late-night crash in Huntington Beach claimed the life of a woman after a suspected DUI collision along Pacific Coast Highway. The accident occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, just south of Warner Avenue.
Huntington Beach Police Department reported that a silver Kia Soul was traveling northbound when a white BMW 328i struck it from behind. The force of the impact pushed the Kia off the roadway and into nearby wetlands.
Emergency units responded quickly and located the Kia partially submerged in the wetlands. Lifeguards and first responders worked together to remove a 53-year-old woman from Long Beach from the vehicle.
Paramedics transported the woman to a local hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, she later died from the injuries she sustained in the crash.
Authorities identified the driver of the BMW as a 23-year-old man from Long Beach. Officers detained him at the scene and took him into custody, as investigators suspect impairment played a role in the collision.
