How Insurance Claims Work in Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Hawthorne, CAFour-Car Crash on Imperial Hwy Kills One in Hawthorne, CA

In a multi-vehicle crash in Hawthorne, CA, insurance claims can become complicated quickly. California is an at-fault state, meaning the driver responsible for causing the crash is generally liable for the damages of those hurt.

When multiple vehicles are involved, however, multiple insurance companies may each dispute their policyholder’s share of fault, which can lead to overlapping claims and conflicting assessments.

When injuries are severe the stakes in an insurance dispute rise considerably. California requires drivers to carry minimum liability coverage, but those minimums are often insufficient to cover the full cost of critical injuries, extended hospitalization, and long-term care.

In fatal cases, families may have possibilities to pursue a wrongful death claim to cover damages. A car accident lawyer can help the families of those killed navigate the claims process across multiple insurers. This includes documenting all losses, responding to lowball settlement offers, and determining whether any additional avenues of recovery exist beyond the at-fault driver’s policy.
