Long Beach, CA (May 25, 2026) – A wrong-way crash on the southbound 710 Freeway along the Gerald Desmond Bridge in Long Beach left two people hospitalized on Monday, May 25. The California Highway Patrol reported the collision just after 12:30 a.m.

Investigators are continuing to work the case.

We hope both people hurt make a full and rapid recovery.

What Happens After a Wrong-Way Crash in Long Beach, CA

Those hurt in wrong-way crashes in Long Beach, CA face serious outcomes: broken bones, head trauma, internal injuries, and soft tissue damage that may not fully surface until days after the wreck.

Wrong-way collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes on any freeway, and the Gerald Desmond Bridge, with its elevated structure and limited escape routes, leaves drivers with almost no margin to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

In California, a person hurt by a wrong-way driver has the right to pursue a personal injury claim against that driver. Compensation in these cases can cover emergency care, follow-up treatment, lost income, and pain and suffering.

Preserving all possible early documentation makes a real difference. If you were able to take photos at the scene, keep them. Hold onto any medical records, discharge paperwork, and correspondence with insurance companies from the start.

California’s statute of limitations for personal injury claims is generally two years from the date of the crash, but starting the process earlier gives a car accident attorney more to work with.
