1 Dead in Two-Vehicle Crash on Ardmore Ave in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles, CA (August 28, 2026) – A woman died early Friday, August 28, after a two-vehicle collision in the Koreatown neighborhood, and the driver believed responsible was detained at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the wreck happened around 12:30 a.m. when a Mercedes Maybach SUV traveling south on Ardmore Avenue struck another car heading west on 8th Street. The second vehicle spun out and hit a pole. The woman driving it, believed to be in her 30s, was pronounced dead where she was found.

The Maybach continued off the road afterward, striking a streetlight, several parked cars, and a fire hydrant before coming to rest on the sidewalk. Water from the sheared hydrant shot into the air following the impact.

Police said the Maybach driver is believed to be responsible for what happened, though it remains unclear whether she will face charges.

The investigation into this crash remains active.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the woman’s family as they face this devastating loss.

Evidence That Can Support a Wrongful Death Claim on Ardmore Ave in Los Angeles, CA

Building a wrongful death claim after a crash depends heavily on the evidence collected in the days that follow, much of which can disappear quickly. Some of the most crucial evidence is surveillance cameras from nearby businesses, since they typically capture footage that police reports alone don’t include.

The police reports typically describe the accident from the starting point, but they rarely tell the whole story on their own. Witness statements, 911 call recordings, and any dashcam or storefront video from the area can help establish exactly how the crash unfolded.

Vehicle data recorders, sometimes called “black boxes,” can also reveal speed and braking information in the moments before impact.

Physical evidence matters just as much. Damage patterns on both vehicles, skid marks, and the final positions of the wreckage can all help reconstruct what happened, but debris gets cleared and vehicles get repaired or scrapped within days of a crash.

It is often recommended to have legal guidance involved early, since a lawyer can send preservation letters to prevent a vehicle from being disposed of and requesting toxicology results or citation records once they become available from investigators.

Gathering all of this before it disappears is not something most families are equipped to do while grieving. At Saleh Law Group, we can help identify what evidence is most likely to matter for your case and help you move forward with the next steps.
