Pedestrian Critically Hurt in Hit-and-Run on SR-14 in Agua Dulce, CA

Agua Dulce, CA (August 11, 2026) – A pedestrian was critically hurt on Monday, August 10, after being struck by a vehicle on southbound State Route 14 near Red Rover Mine Road. The wreck involved a red Tesla and an older pickup truck, according to initial reports.

The California Highway Patrol requested a helicopter to airlift the pedestrian, who suffered severe injuries, including partial loss of a limb. The person was reported in critical condition at the scene.

Authorities said a man believed to be connected to the crash fled on foot from the area. He was last seen running along the right shoulder of the freeway.

Investigators are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

We hope the injured pedestrian receives the care needed for as full a recovery as possible.

What Long-Term Costs Do Catastrophic Injury Victims Face After a Crash in Agua Dulce, CA?

A crash resulting in the loss of a limb can bring costs that extend far beyond the initial hospital stay. Pedestrians struck can face a difficult road involving multiple surgeries, prosthetic fitting, and months of physical therapy before returning to any sense of normal life.

Beyond the immediate medical care, someone who loses a limb in a crash may face lifelong expenses tied to prosthetic replacement, ongoing rehabilitation, and home or vehicle modifications needed to accommodate a permanent disability.

Lost earning capacity typically becomes one of the highest long-term costs, particularly for someone whose work depended on physical ability. Emotional and psychological support following this kind of trauma can add further costs that aren’t always immediately obvious.

Calculating the true financial impact of a catastrophic injury like this usually requires input from medical experts, vocational specialists, and financial professionals who can project future care needs over a person’s lifetime.

A personal injury lawyer can help gather this kind of documentation and coordinate with experts to build a strong claim. Evidence such as vehicle data, witness statements, and surveillance footage from the area can play a key role in that effort.
