North Hollywood, CA (June 20, 2025) – A pedestrian was killed in a tragic hit-and-run crash early Tuesday, June 17 at a gas station in North Hollywood.
The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the incident happened around 5:10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18. The crash occurred at the Arco gas station located at Roscoe Blvd and Laurel Canyon Blvd.
Surveillance video showed a dark-colored Hummer EV SUV entering the gas station. A man was lying between two parking spots when the vehicle entered. As the SUV moved forward, it struck and ran over the man.
The driver did not stop or help. Instead, they fled the scene, heading north on Pendleton St from Roscoe Blvd. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded shortly after, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police released the video on Friday to ask the public for help. Investigators noted that the SUV had three “cab lights” on its roof, which may help identify the vehicle.
Authorities are still searching for the driver and urge anyone with information to come forward. The investigation into this deadly hit-and-run remains ongoing.
We extend our sincere wishes for recovery and peace to the loved ones affected by this tragic event.
Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents in North Hollywood
Hit-and-run crashes involving pedestrians continue to be a major concern in cities like North Hollywood. These incidents are not just dangerous—they often leave victims and their families without closure or justice. In many cases, pedestrians are hit in areas with low visibility or during early morning or late-night hours, as seen in this recent case.
California law requires all drivers involved in a crash to stop and provide aid if someone is injured. Failing to do so is a serious offense. But despite the law, many drivers panic and flee the scene. This act can delay emergency response, reduce a victim’s chance of survival, and complicate the legal process for their families.
Pedestrian fatalities are especially tragic because they are often preventable. Crosswalks, sidewalks, and parking lots should be safe spaces. But when drivers act recklessly or fail to pay attention, vulnerable individuals can lose their lives.
Victims’ families may face financial stress following these accidents. Medical bills, funeral costs, and loss of income can all take a toll. A personal injury attorney can help them seek compensation through all available legal paths. If the driver is not found right away, uninsured motorist coverage or a civil suit may still offer some financial recovery.
Even when the at-fault driver disappears, a car accident lawyer can work with investigators, gather surveillance footage, and assist with insurance filings. Legal guidance during these times is crucial for families dealing with grief, stress, and unanswered questions.
