Anaheim, CA (December 13, 2025) – One student from the Anaheim High School track team remains in the hospital after a devastating crash on Wednesday, December 10, in Anaheim. The crash happened around 2:55 p.m. near North Harbor Boulevard and North Street.
Witnesses said eight student runners, ages 16 and 17, were waiting at the southwest corner of the intersection for the light to change. A Toyota Corolla traveling south on Harbor Boulevard suddenly veered off the road and struck them without warning.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene. Paramedics treated eight victims at the scene before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further care. One girl remains hospitalized but is expected to recover, according to the Anaheim Police Sgt. Matt Sutter.
Police identified the driver as 27-year-old Anthony Alva-Palafox of Anaheim. Officers arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Paramedics also transported him to a hospital for evaluation before booking him into custody. He has since been released on bail.
The Anaheim Police Department continues to investigate the incident and review all available evidence to determine what led to the driver losing control.
Our hearts are with the injured students and their families during this difficult time. We wish them a full and swift recovery.
Pedestrian Accidents in California
Pedestrian accidents in California are a serious public safety concern, especially in busy areas such as Anaheim, where traffic and foot movement intersect constantly. Even a moment of driver distraction can cause a life-changing collision. Many victims are simply walking on the sidewalk or waiting at crosswalks when tragedy strikes.
Many pedestrian accidents in California happen when drivers speed through intersections, ignore traffic signals, or fail to watch for people crossing the street.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, hundreds of pedestrians lose their lives or suffer severe injuries in Los Angeles and Orange Counties each year. The aftermath is often devastating, leaving victims with long hospital stays, painful rehabilitation, and emotional trauma that can last for years. Families also face enormous financial stress from medical bills and lost income.
Victims of these accidents may be entitled to compensation that covers medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and ongoing therapy or care. However, insurance companies often try to minimize payouts or shift blame, which makes it crucial to have a skilled attorney who knows how to handle complex pedestrian injury claims.
An experienced car accident lawyer can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and stand up to insurers who attempt to undervalue your claim. With the right legal support, you can secure the justice and compensation you need to recover.
