How Insurance Claims Work After a Crash on I-5 Near Castaic, CA

In California, drivers are required to carry minimum liability coverage, which pays for injuries and damages caused to others when the insured driver is at fault. When multiple vehicles are involved, multiple insurance policies may come into play, and determining which carrier is responsible for which portion of the damages can take time.

Insurance companies, including a person’s own insurer, are businesses whose primary interest is limiting payouts. Adjusters may contact hurt people quickly after a crash, sometimes within hours, to gather recorded statements or offer early settlements.

Accepting a settlement before the full extent of injuries is known can limit a person’s ability to seek additional compensation later. Medical costs, lost wages, and long-term care needs may far exceed what an early offer covers, particularly in crashes involving three or more vehicles at freeway speeds.

car accident attorney can handle communications with insurance carriers, help document the full scope of injuries and losses, and negotiate on a hurt person’s behalf to pursue fair compensation. Having legal guidance early in the claims process can make a meaningful difference in the outcome.
