Pedestrian Killed in Bus Crash on Sepulveda Blvd in Westchester, CA

Westchester, CA (July 24, 2026) – On early Thursday morning, July 23, a pedestrian died after being struck by an LAX shuttle bus on South Sepulveda Boulevard and 98th Street. The collision happened shortly after 2 a.m., close to the Los Angeles International Airport. Emergency units were called to the intersection soon after.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department and LAX Police worked together at the intersection. Nearby roads were temporarily closed while investigators examined the wreck. The closures were lifted once the review was finished.

Police have not released the identity of the pedestrian who died, and investigators have not said what led to the accident.

The investigation into this fatal accident remains ongoing.

Our condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the pedestrian who lost her life.

How Does a Claim Work When an Airport Bus Causes a Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Westchester, CA?

Los Angeles International Airport is run by Los Angeles World Airports, a public agency of the City of Los Angeles, which means shuttle buses operate near the terminal.

Under the California Government Claims Act, anyone seeking compensation from a public entity must file a formal claim with that agency, generally within six months of the accident, before a lawsuit can move forward.

Families that have to deal with a fatal pedestrian accident which involves a public bus usually face a narrow window to act. Missing the claims deadline can permanently bar a wrongful death case, even when the facts clearly support one. Gathering surveillance footage, dispatch logs, and maintenance records from a public agency also tends to move more slowly than requesting the same materials from a private company.

Because these records can be difficult to obtain without a formal request, a personal injury lawyer can help identify the correct public entity, prepare the government claim within the deadline, and push for the preservation of surveillance video before it’s overwritten.
