Los Angeles, CA (November 17, 2025) – One person died Monday, September 16, after a crash involving a car and a big rig on the Santa Ana Freeway in Boyle Heights. The California Highway Patrol received reports of the collision around 12:50 p.m. on the northbound side of the 5 Fwy, just south of Indiana Street.
Paramedics reached the scene and found one victim with fatal injuries. They pronounced the person dead at the site, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Margaret Stewart. No other injuries were reported in the incident.
The crash happened on the right side of the northbound lanes. Firefighters assisted with the recovery of the victim’s body while CHP officers began documenting evidence at the location. Officials have not released the victim’s identity or provided further details about what caused the car to strike the big rig.
