Irwindale, CA (July 10, 2024) – A bicyclist was killed in a crash that happened in Irwindale on Tuesday night, July 9th. The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Arrow Highway and Riverdale Road.
The Irwindale Police Department responded to reports of the accident. According to officials, the driver involved had stolen a Land Rover from a Toyota dealership and drove away in the stolen vehicle before striking the bicyclist. The victim, identified as 50-year-old Raul Castaneda, died at the crash scene. The driver fled the scene but was arrested a short time later. He is now facing several charges in connection with the collision. Police closed the road while they cleared the scene and conducted an investigation.
