Yorba Linda, CA (July 28, 2025) – One person was injured early Monday morning, July 28, following a crash involving a jackknifed semi on the 91 Fwy near the 241 Fwy interchange.
The California Highway Patrol reported the crash at around 4:15 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway. According to initial updates, the semi blocked two lanes before all westbound lanes were eventually closed to allow cleanup crews to respond safely.
Paramedics responded to the scene and provided medical attention to at least one individual. It is not yet clear how serious the injuries were or how many vehicles were involved.
Traffic was heavily backed up for several hours during the morning rush as officials worked to reopen the road. By around 6:30 a.m., one lane had reopened to traffic. The eastbound lanes were not affected.
Authorities are still working to determine what caused the crash. More details will be released as the investigation moves forward.
We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to those injured in this incident.
Truck Accidents in Yorba Linda and Surrounding Areas
Accidents involving commercial trucks like semis or big rigs can be extremely dangerous, especially when they jackknife on major highways. A jackknife crash happens when a truck’s trailer swings out at an angle, often blocking several lanes and leading to multi-car pileups. These
Yorba Linda is part of a busy stretch of Southern California where freeways such as the 91 and 241 are often packed with commuters and commercial trucks. Due to the size and weight of big rigs, any crash involving a semi poses a higher risk of serious injuries or fatalities. Even a single miscalculation—like braking too quickly or turning too sharply—can cause a devastating jackknife accident.
Several factors can lead to these types of crashes. Speeding, driver fatigue, poor weather conditions, and mechanical failures are among the most common causes. In some cases, improper loading of the trailer can shift the truck’s center of gravity and contribute to a jackknife. When truck drivers or the companies they work for fail to follow safety regulations, they may be held legally responsible for the harm caused.
Victims of truck accidents may be entitled to financial compensation. This can include coverage for emergency medical care, follow-up treatment, physical therapy, lost wages, and emotional trauma. In more severe cases, long-term care or disability-related expenses may also be part of the claim.
Truck accident cases are often more complex than regular car accidents. Multiple parties may be involved, including the driver, the trucking company, maintenance contractors, and even cargo loaders.
