Buena Park, CA (March 11, 2026) – Early Monday morning, March 9, a pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulevard in Buena Park.
According to authorities, the collision occurred at approximately 1:50 a.m. when a man was walking west across Artesia Boulevard. At the same time, a vehicle traveling southbound on Beach Boulevard, reportedly with a green traffic signal, struck the pedestrian under circumstances that remain under investigation. Surveillance footage from the area captured the moment of impact, showing the pedestrian being hit and thrown down the roadway.
Officials reported that the driver failed to stop after the collision and instead fled the scene. Witnesses who observed the incident quickly contacted emergency services. Officers with the Buena Park Police Department responded to the location and found the victim suffering from severe injuries.
The pedestrian was transported to UCI Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, the victim later died from the injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
Investigators soon began searching for the vehicle involved in the incident. Police later located the suspected vehicle, described as a white Kia sedan, abandoned approximately eight miles south of the crash site near the intersection of Valley View Street and Chapman Avenue in Garden Grove. The car was found unoccupied, and authorities continue to search for the driver responsible.
