Scooter Accidents in Los Angeles

Many scooter crashes occur when drivers fail to yield, make unsafe turns, or open car doors without checking for approaching riders. Others stem from road hazards such as potholes or uneven pavement, which are especially dangerous for smaller, lightweight scooters. In a busy city like Los Angeles, where traffic is constant, the risk for these types of accidents is even higher.
California law treats scooter riders much like bicyclists, meaning they are entitled to share the road and expect drivers to exercise caution. When a driver acts carelessly, such as by texting or speeding, they can be held liable for resulting injuries. Victims may be eligible to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
It’s also important for scooter riders to understand their insurance options. Some personal auto insurance policies may not cover scooter injuries, but legal claims can still be made against negligent drivers. A Los Angeles car accident lawyer can investigate the crash, gather evidence, and negotiate with insurance companies to ensure fair compensation.
