Los Angeles, CA (July 14, 2025) – A man riding a bicycle died after a crash early Sunday, July 13, at Vernon Avenue and Figueroa Street.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the crash happened around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 14. The bicyclist, a 29-year-old man, was crossing Figueroa St heading east when a southbound vehicle hit him.
First responders arrived shortly after the collision. Sadly, they pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.
Police said the driver who hit the bicyclist was a 32-year-old man. He stayed at the crash site and was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Video footage showed several damaged vehicles and the crash scene surrounded by a crowd of bystanders. One man was seen being carried on a stretcher.
Local resident Gonzalo Almaraz told reporters that neighbors rushed to help after hearing the crash. He said one person even tried to lift a vehicle to free someone who was trapped underneath. Authorities cleared the area by 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. Investigators continue working to figure out what caused the deadly crash.
